Social communication challenges

Social Communication Challenges: Individuals with autism often experience difficulties in social communication. Some common challenges include: 

• Impaired social interactions: Difficulty with initiating and maintaining conversations, understanding nonverbal cues, and interpreting social norms. 
• Challenges in social reciprocity: Difficulty with turn-taking, sharing interests, and engaging in joint attention. 

• Literal understanding: Taking language and expressions literally, which may lead to misunderstandings or difficulties with sarcasm and figurative language.
